Message from 4/11/16:
Speaker of the House Paul Ryan and Kevin Brady, Chairman of the
powerful House Ways and Means Committee, continue to call for cuts
to Social Security that include raising the retirement age.
Sign the petition: Please stand with PFAW, the Alliance for Retired
Americans, and Center for Community Change Action in rejecting
Republican leaders’ calls for Social Security cuts>>
A recent report by the Center for Economic and Policy Research shows
that 10.2 million workers ages 58 and older (43.8 percent of workers
in that age range) are employed in either physically demanding jobs
or jobs with difficult working conditions.
The Social Security retirement age is already at 67 and, with many
retirees forgoing their earned Social Security benefits into their
70s to ensure the maximum financial return, future retirees cannot
physically or financially afford for Social Security’s retirement age to
be raised once again.
Right-wing Republicans have been attacking Social Security for decades,
but with a common sense increase in what the wealthiest pay into Social
Security, we can shore up the Social Security trust fund for the next
70 years and increase benefits for millions of Americans.
Please add your name now: Join PFAW, the Alliance for Retired Americans,
and Center for Community Change Action in demanding no cuts to Social
Security in the federal budget>>
Thanks for speaking out!
