BFC’s Mission:  To protect the natural habitat of wild migratory buffalo and native wildlife, to stop the slaughter and harassment of America’s last wild buffalo as well as to advocate for their lasting protection, and to work with people of all Nations to honor the sacredness of wild buffalo.

*** SPECIAL ALERT!

BFC Week of Action:  TODAY IS NATIONAL CALL-IN DAY!

The following decision-makers can make a positive difference for America’s last wild buffalo. Let’s make their phones ring off the hook with our support for wild, migratory buffalo! Bellow are their phone numbers and a brief, suggested message – but, please just speak from your heart for the love of wild buffalo!

* GOVERNOR STEVE BULLOCK:  406-444-3111

Message:  Thank you for granting year-round habit for wild bison and for recognizing the rights of landowners who welcome buffalo on their properties. This is a great beginning! More than 70% of Montanans want wild, free-roaming buffalo in the state! We should manage wild bison like wild elk, but we must also end livestock industry control, so please do what is within your power to help repeal MCA 81-2-120 and put an end to the Montana Department of Livestock’s authority over wild bison!

* YELLOWSTONE SUPERINTENDENT DAN WENK:   307-344-2002

Message:  You are tasked with being stewards of America’s last wild buffalo. It is unconscionable that Yellowstone has participated in the deaths of over 6,000 wild bison since the year 2000. Stop the slaughter and end your plans to domesticate, through quarantine, the most important wild bison population in the world! There are no “surplus” wild buffalo and there is no brucellosis threat – your agency is mandated to protect the wild bison of Yellowstone, not Montana’s livestock interests. It’s time the buffalo’s interests come first!

* U.S. CONGRESS:  Capitol Switchboard 202-224-3121, Toll free 1-800-839-5276  (ask to be transferred to your House and Senate members.
If you aren’t sure who they are, you can find them here: https://www.opencongress.org/people/zipcodelookup

Message:  Stop using my tax dollars to fund the Montana cattle industry! The wild bison of Yellowstone are the world’s most important population and they are being harmed and killed to serve livestock interests. There are no “surplus” wild buffalo and there is no brucellosis threat. Please eliminate federal funding from wild bison mis-managment. If Montana livestock interests want to wage a war against wild buffalo, they should foot the bill, not U.S. tax payers.

* SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR SALLY JEWELL:  (202) 208-3100 phone

Message:  Instruct Yellowstone National Park to withdraw from the Interagency Bison Management Plan, stop the slaughter of America’s last wild buffalo, shut down the Stephens Creek bison trap, and defend wild, migratory bison rather than livestock interests! Grant federal protection of wild Yellowstone bison under the Endangered Species Act by supporting BFC’s ESA petition and help ensure that there will be wild bison for future generations.

Be a voice for the wild buffalo of Yellowstone!  These decision-makers aren’t listening to the buffalo, but you can insist that they listen to you! Thank you so much and please share this email and post throughout social media. Let’s really make their phones ring off the hook!
