BLUE began as a one day project for a benefit concert in La Honda California, on 9/11/05. When the musicians took the stage for the first time together in public, something magical happened. The concert was recorded and is available as our 1st CD.

Our second CD was released three years ago. We are currently working on a sound track for a movie, working on our third and fourth CD’s, and continue to play all over Northern California.

BLUE has evolved into one of the premier American rock and roll dance bands, and do equally well as a sit down and listen, concert band. Most nights we observe the audience singing along, and wiggling in their seats, or up and dancing.

For the past ten years, the band has performed at public and private events, concerts, casinos, wineries and clubs in Northern California. They continue to craft a unique musical style. BLUE’s repertoire of rhythm and blues, country, rockabilly, Motown, original music, classic rock and roll, and calypso is a delight to the senses.

The musicians:

Mark Binion: Keyboards and Vocals. Grew up in Loma Mar, California Mark has played most of his life and plays keyboards, guitar, Accordion, and sings lead and harmony.

He is also the choirmaster of the Pescadero community church, and can be seen playing most Sundays, if he is not of playing with the band.

Mark has played with several great local bands. He has played off and on for the past 40 years, with Geoff Allen. Mark says BLUE is the best band he has ever played with.

Mark Passel: Guitar and Vocals, Grew up in Palo Alto, and plays all manner of Americanroots guitar styles. Mark likes single coil pickups, and fender tube amplifiers.

He uses no effects other than reverb. He played in San Diego, in the 70’s, and since moving back up North, has played with, No Sax, Bluesuaders, the lifters, the blisters, the Root Doctors, Rusty Sterling, and Dash Kizer.

Geoff and Mark grew up 4 houses apart, in Palo Alto, although Geoff was the big kid on the block.
