Greetings from Project Censored and the Media Freedom Foundation!
Please help Project Censored faculty and students complete the Censored 2016 yearbook on time!
We need to raise $15,000 during our 12 day Spring fund drive starting April 23 and ending May 4 to have enough funds to be sure the 2016 yearbook will be out by October.
We’ve grown in terms of outreach at Project Censored, especially over the past five years. In addition to our annual book published by Seven Stories Press, there is now the incredible Project Censored documentary being used in classrooms across the country. We are four and half years into our weekly public affairs program at KPFA Pacifica Free Speech Radio in Berkeley, CA, which now airs on 25 stations across the US.
We need your support to keep this important work going! Please give what you can. All donations are tax-deductible! Those donating $50 or more will receive a signed 2016 yearbook in October when the book is released. Those donating $250 or more will be listed in the acknowledgement pages of Censored 2016 yearbook as a contributing supporter.
We are pleased to announce that we have a generous $2000 challenge match to support this drive from a donor in Washington state. So every dollar we raise means an additional dollar from the match.
Checks can be mailed to Project Censored P.O. Box 571 Cotati, CA 94931
We are doing all we can to support independent journalism, promote media literacy, and teach critical thinking skills. We now work with professors and students on over 20 campuses across the US. Here is testimony from one of our faculty affiliates from this year: From Professor Rob Williams and student researchers at Burlington College
Left To Right: Elora West, Madeline Pajerowski, Brandi Giroux, Abigail Meyers-Orr.
“Project Censored opened my eyes to the ways in which biased corporate media shape our society and how independent news gives us hope for the future of news and our right to know what is truly going on.”
– Abbi Meyers-Orr
“My experience with Project Censored proved enticing, engaging, and full of learning opportunities.”
– Brandi Giroux
“Project Censored taught me that I have the ability to dig up stories no one in mainstream media is discussing, and the ability to research and understand them. PC helped me become a more critically engaged citizen – the scope of what isn’t talked about truly shocked me.” – Elora West
In order for us to continue working with students to finalize the 2016 book for publication, we really need your help this spring. Everyone on the our e-mail list knows that we don’t do a great deal of mass appeal fund raising. Project Censored receives very little funding from foundations or universities.
We rely almost totally on support from personal donors, monthly subscribers, and book sales. So as we enter our 39th year, Project Censored asks you to help us meet our goal as we go into our busiest time of year finishing Censored 2016.
You can see the over 200 stories being considered for inclusion for our forthcoming book here: http://www.projectcensored.org/category/validated-independent-news/?mc_cid=6b3f7958c0&mc_eid=[UNIQID]]
We thank you all for taking the time to read our appeal, and we are grateful for any support you offer as we educate the next generation of muckraking journalists!
